Synopsis:When the Yao race was defeated and an era of relative peace for mankind ensued, Emperor Wu, Sheng Lingyuan, passed the rule to his nephew while he himself jumped into the Crimson Abyss, determined to die in its raging flames.
Three thousand years later, he was awakened.
Upon stepping into this unfamiliar modern era, he meets Xuan Ji, the director of the Disaster Response Department whose task is to deal with the aftermath of supernatural events that disrupt the lives of ordinary humans.
For the newly appointed director, the appearance of the long-haired demon spells nothing but trouble, while for Sheng Lingyuan, Xuan Ji's presence proves to be a hindrance. When two powerful beings stand on the opposing sides, how else could their first encounter end but with a ruthless fight?
Yet despite the initial wariness, the two are soon forced to work together to uncover the mysteries behind the past and present.

(this section may contain spoilers)- enemies! to! lovers! not the fake kind... they really fight and try to k*ll each other
- it's both historical and modern fantasy, should appeal to fans of any of these genres
- slowburn romance & power couple! emperor shou with a traumatizing past (Sheng Lingyuan) x vermillion bird gong with a long hair kink (Xuan Ji); Xuan Ji is a broke danmei reader (seriously), while Lingyuan is both confused and amazed at the wonders of the 21st century (ADORABLY SO)
